Ali's professional experience includes working as a research assistant for Dr. Soodeh Saberian and Dr. Janelle Mann, both at the University of Manitoba. His responsibilities in these positions included preparing research proposals, collecting and processing data, conducting literature reviews, and contributing to data visualization. Prior to his work in academia, Ali worked as a Risk Analyst at Karafarin Bank in Tehran, Iran, where he participated in modeling the bank's operational risk, conducted risk and self-control assessments, and conducted statistical analyses of loss data. He also worked as a researcher at the Tehran Regional Electric Company, where he conducted research on environmental efficiency measurement.
Ali is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Economics and Econometrics at the University of Manitoba. He previously earned a Master of Arts in Environmental Economics from Allameh Tabataba’i University in Tehran, Iran, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from the University of Ilam in Ilam, Iran.
Ali's current research interests include the impacts of air pollution on mental health, as well as the effects of social media disclosures on firm financial-environmental performance nexus. He has presented his research on air pollution and mental health at the Canadian Economic Association (CEA) Annual Conference in Ottawa, and his research on measuring environmental productivity and efficiency at the First National Conference of Environment, Industry, and Economics at Allameh Tabataba’i University in Tehran.
In addition to his academic and professional accomplishments, Ali has received the International Graduate Student Entrance Scholarship from the University of Manitoba and the Graduate Teaching Assistant Scholarship from New York State University at Buffalo (which he declined). He is also skilled in several programming languages, including R, STATA, Python (beginner), Julia (beginner), and LaTex. Ali is fluent in Persian and Azerbaijani, and is proficient in English and Turkish
