Hello! My name is Sam Tcherner, and I am a fourth year student at McMaster University majoring in Medical and Biological Physics and minoring in Computer Science.
Physics is something that I have taken a keen interest in because as a bridge between philosophy and science, with mathematics as its language, physics provides us with profound insights into the natural world. As a result of its captivating nature, I often find myself reading beyond the textbooks of my courses, as a means of learning about present-day innovations which I hope to someday be a part of.
I am particularly interested in advancing the development of quantitative image analysis tools using machine learning and deep learning principles to provide novel supporting insights into the diagnosis, treatment, and response assessment of various cancers. I strongly believe that innovations in predictive image analysis are the necessary step toward improvements in personalized precision oncology, and aspire to dedicate my professional career as a medical physicist towards the refinement of these state-of-the-art tools for integration into existing clinical workflows.
Until then however, I am really looking forward to learning all that I can, and procuring as much targeted research experience as possible. Please reach out to me with regards to any opportunities!
