Payam Roshanfekr is an Assistant Professor of Social Determinants of Health (SDH) and a faculty member of the social welfare management Research Center at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences (USWRs) in Tehran, Iran. Payam’s research field is in Social development, health equity, and Social Policy. He has been researching sexually risky behaviors amongst disadvantaged groups like FSWS, PWID, CWD, Homeless, and Street children since 2007 and has a rich research experience in this regard. Most recently He was PI of 4-year CBPRs regarding HIV/AIDS-related risky behaviors among poor street female sex workers in one of the southern neighborhoods of Tehran (2013-2017). Also has been the principal investigator(PI) in two national Rapid Assessment and Response (RAR) Studies about HIV/AIDS-related risky behaviors among street female sex workers(SFSWs) and street substance users (2017) and co-PI in the same study among street children in 6 capital cities of Iran (2018). He is a member of the health promotion group of the Iran Academy of Medical Sciences and also the Director of the scientific group of medical and health sociology in the Iranian Sociological Association (ISA) and has been a member of the association’s executive board from 2017-2020. Recent Publications in English include a chapter titled Start with the World and Continue in Isolation: The Pasteur and Razi Institutes’ Vaccine Legacy in Iran, in Immunization and States: The Politics of Making Vaccines Edited By Stuart Blume, Baptiste Baylac-Paouly (2021, Routledge) ; and in Farsi include Social development: Global Perspective & Iran Situation (2014, TU). Meanwhile, along with his colleagues, he wrote a book titled: A guide for rapid assessment & response to high-risk behaviors among street children in Iran, presenting an experience (2016) that was published by the University of social welfare & rehabilitation sciences (USWR) Publication. Most recently he has been focused on a critical review of the privatization of health care services in Iran and its effect on Health equity in general and social and mental health prevention and promotion programs mainly and has held a few seminars in this regard.
