Ernest Kojo Eduful

My name is Ernest Kojo Eduful, a Medical Physicist and a Research Scientist at the Medical Radiation Physics Center of the Radiological and Medical Sciences Research Institute of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. I hold a BSc in Physics, MPhil in Medical Physics and a Ph.D. in Physics. I have a over a decade experience as a Diagnostic and Nuclear Medicine Physicist and a Research Scientist with several publications in peer-reviewed journal. I am currently part of an audit team performing National wide audit work on all Radiological and Nuclear Medicine equipment to ensure they are working perfecting and the radiation limits falls within the acceptable values. I am also a facilitator and a lecturer for the six (6) month training of other African Medical Physicists as part of International Atomic Energy Commission (IAEA) initiative to train more Physicist in Africa in the area of Nuclear Medicine. I am also teach SPECT quality control test and non-imaging quality test to MPhil students of the Department of Medical Physics of the Graduate School of Nuclear Allied Science of the University of Ghana at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. I also assist and supervise these students with their thesis works. I am also on Secondment as the Nuclear Medicine Physicist at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. My research interests are in the scope of quantifying how radio molecules (radiopharmaceuticals), combinations of drugs and radioactive isotopes, precisely target cancer cells, in both imaging and therapy applications, (theranostics, Reconstruction, Molecular Imaging etc.) but unfortunately Ghana started theranostic treatment some few months back as such, this defeats my career goal – the reason I chose a career as a Medical Physicist. My aim is to be a CAMPEP accredited Nuclear Medicine Physicist, obtain a clinical residency and to be able practice worldwide and become one of the renowned Physicists in Nuclear Medicine.
