Mahnaz Abdollahi

I am a PhD graduate in Horticultural Science - Medicinal Plant, Spices and Beverages from the Islamic Azad University in Iran in 2020. In my PhD thesis, I focused on Morphological and Phytochemical Studies of some Imported Varieties of Hemp Plant (Cannabis sativa L.) and Comparison with Two Native Ecotypes in Three Different Climates. Cannabinoids are terpenophenolic compounds that have only been identified in cannabis, that the extraction and analyses of them are so hard and need specially technique, that I illustrated a technical method of extraction and HPLC. The novel results are published in highly reputable Q1 and Q2 journals, such as "Industrial Crops and Products" Q1, IF: 6.449, "Chemistry & Biodiversity" Q2, IF: 2.745, and "Iranian Journal of Horticultural Science." I have also received my Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Horticultural Science in Iran. My MSc thesis was on “Effects of Paclobutrazol, Boric Acid and Zinc Sulphate on Vegetative and Reproductive Growth of Strawberry cv. Selva. (In Hydroponic Condition/ vertical farming)”. My results were published. Furthermore, after graduating I was working in that hydroponic green house for a few years. In 2022, as a PhD recent graduate, I research on an international project that manage with Dr. Naderi at the Shiraz University and Professor Bhagirath Chauhan at (QAAFI), Australia. Working at this university, provides me an opportunity to experience an international environment where I can enhance my experience in research. I have been working on explore the potential of intercropping as a non-chemical weed management technique in IWM. My major focus is on developing the ecological model of intercropping camellia and fenugreek to assess possible mechanisms of weeds control in intercropping systems. Furthermore, I prepared a proposal to control a kind of disease with cannabinoids, and I am looking for fund for that. I have had the great honor to be one of the reviewers of the American Journal of Agriculture and Forestry (AJAF) and PLOS ONE, Chemistry and Biodiversity, South African Journal of Botany, Scientia Horticulture, Electronic Journal of Biotechnology and Journal of Experimental Agriculture International. I received the Certificate of Excellent in Reviewing in Journal of Experimental Agriculture International in 2020.
