Dr. Mohammad Reza Malekzadeh is a plant physiologist specializing in the production and postharvest physiology of horticultural crops, with a particular focus on strawberry cultivation under abiotic stress conditions. He earned his Ph.D. from Vali-e-Asr University of Rafsanjan, Iran, where his research explored the role of supplementary light spectra in mitigating the adverse effects of salinity and alkalinity stress in strawberries.
His scientific interests center around plant responses to environmental stress, photosynthesis optimization, and the application of controlled-environment agriculture techniques to enhance crop resilience. Dr. Malekzadeh has conducted extensive greenhouse and laboratory research using advanced physiological tools, including chlorophyll fluorescence (JIP test), gas exchange analysis, and hydroponic systems.
He has authored over 14 peer-reviewed journal articles in prominent journals such as Scientific Reports, BMC Plant Biology, PLOS ONE, and Plant Physiology and Biochemistry. In addition to his research contributions, he serves as a peer reviewer for several international journals and has experience as an editorial assistant for the Pistachio Science and Technology Journal.
Dr. Malekzadeh is a member of the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) and the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS), and regularly participates in international scientific webinars and symposia. Beyond his scientific work, he is passionate about music and has been recognized for his violin performances at several cultural events in Iran.
